CULTURES OF THE FIXED AND MOVING IMAGE: FROM PHOTOGRAPHY TO CINEMA TO COMICS [S2]

The course is dedicated to the analysis of the history and theories of comics. Some paths are outlined that are able to investigate historically the
socio-cultural changes in the medium (from the end of the nineteenth century to today). The lessons intend to investigate the role of comics in the social and media scene and its relationship with cinema and photography. The unprecedented perspectives of the digital age are analyzed
for the same research, both historical and sociological, on the historical and current forms of medium, with particular reference to integrations and interactions (from “intermediality” to “Transmedia”) produced between comics and other media.
